S7 screen causes factory reset

I dropped my S7 and got the black screen. Took the phone to a repair shop. They suggested a screen change. Upon changing the S7 screen, reportedly, a factory reset occurred. 2 weeks after repair, the S7 was tossed onto the bed. Black screen. Another screen replacement, factory reset again. Is this possible (that an S7 screen change causes a factory reset - twice)? Or is the repair center simply factory resetting my phone trying to bring the screen back.
Anyone with experience or heard of this? And why is the screen so easy to go out?
